Week 2- Eclispe Talula Rouge

I like trying new techniques. I also like doing challenges. So this year I've joined Year of Jewelry again. Each week there is a theme and you are supposed to create a new piece weekly.

With the theme Eclipse, I didn’t want to go for moons or suns. I wanted to go with the colors of night instead. The focal cab I made from polyclay. I used black and grey transparent 11/0 seed beads. I also have 8mm grey cat’s eye beads, black labradorite, faceted glass beads, and metal beads. I guess this piece would have worked just as well for week 3′s mixed media!! LOL

Bali Moon

Last night I had the polyclay for months, a wire wrapped unit for an earring, and a grey angle waiting for a match. I'm sitting at my table around 9PM and randomly start pulling them together (all three originally made for 3 separate projects months ago). My new piece Bali Moon is the result! Finished it at 2AM!

Materials:
silver toned wire, silver plated beads & dangle, pearlized grey glass bead, silver toned bead cap, polyclay face
approximately 3 inches long

Wandering Red River Queen

Wandering Red River Queen

A work in progress. I never know where these face pendents will end up. I decided that I would do a work in progress record. The construction is always different and the order freeform random.

I can't wait to see where the Wandering red River Queen will journey!

Materials:
Copper wire, Mother of Pearl leafs, red tiger eye, wood bicones, seed beads, and what ever else comes out of the proverbial kitchen sink!

Ok ... The final version is complete. I took photos last night but was not as pleased with them. So this morning, after showering- ahhhhh refreshment - :) -- I took out the cell-ie and snapped another round of pics. Here is one I actually like!

I give to you--- Wandering Red River Queen!!!

Kato polyclay

Yesterday I played with Kato polyclay. Previosuly I had used Sculpey III for my polyclay needs. After working with the Kato, I am hooked! It is a much harder clay to work. It took a fair amount of rolling and working to get it conditioned. However, I loved how it held its shape. Also the clay mixed well. I used translucent and mixed varying amounts of the solid colors into it. When I baked the clay the shine was excelent. I really liked how it had a slight gloss. This was not true when I used translucent Sculpey III- it baked an all the shine dried up.

Here are a few clay faces made of Kato polyclay! I can't wait to work them up into some fantastic wire pendents!!!!
