Antoni Gaudi- challenge

I had never heard of this man before. However, over in FSOJ 2009 one of the themed challenges is his work. So, I googled him. He is/was (?) an architect. I looked at only a few of his buildings and feel immediately in love with them! They have this carved bone, fairytale, old world, organic look to them. I know that is a lot to heap together, but that is what it reminds me of. The pictures that I saw remind me of vampire tales but as if they were in day light. Strange- maybe I'm just obsessed with them from playing Vampire Wars on Facebook (it's a sickness LOL).
I can't wait to get started on a jewelry piece or two that is inspired by his work! I'm going to have to go ahead and add Antoni Gaudi to my every growing research for fun list!

I LOVE Gaudi!
My daughter brought me back a book (with lots of pictures) of his work from Barcelona when she went there on a high school trip to France and Spain.
I can't wait to see what designs will flower from the Gaudi seeds in your mind! :D
Cheers!

HI! Pippi!
This is the first I have ever heard of him! I am not a big student of arch even though I love taking pictures of stone work, etc. When I saw the first pic of his work it went straight to my heart. It was elven, mystical, ancient, haunting, gorgeous in an off way all at the same time! I loved the pink building piece. I am thinking of recreating the railing in some way. I know exactly what I'd do if I were still taking my metals class! Sort of a curvy "stained glass" cutout effect mimicking the windows of the second picture! As it stands I may have to do something with seed beads and wire.

I haven't been following the themes at all at YOJ. But I'll be very interested in knowing what you come up with! :-))

I haven't been very good at following them either. Most of the time I end up making a piece and then fitting it into the right category vs. making the piece to go with the theme! Then again Nov. 2008 until the last day of school was rather hellish.

I might try to catch up. However, I am not to inspired by most of the themes this year. Maybe my mind is just running a tad slow still. However, that Gaudi! awwwwwwwwww beautiful stuff! It will take me a while to come up with something fabulous for that! I might go to teh library to see if they have any books on him.

I very much like the fairytale look of his work. And I can see the vampire a bit in there too. LOL

Because you have such a lovely blog, I've given you the "One Lovely Blog Award" over on my blog at http://www.StarlightBlog.com
